Hi. I realise that Wi-Fi Optimisation can't be switched off now, but it is causing me problems. Tonight for example, as would be expected on a Sunday night, all the Wi-Fi channels on the 2.4 ghz band are quite congested. Unfortunately my TV in the lounge can't find the 5 ghz band. Every few hours the router switches to a different channel which is a problem because if I'm watching YouTube or Netflix, it buffers and loses connection. There shouldn't be any buffering because my current download speed, according to my router, is 77mbps and I'm not using a lot of devices at the same time, usually just my Smart TV and smart phone.
I know TalkTalk have said it can't be switched off, but I can't understand why they won't do this if its what the customer wants and if it improves the customer experience.
Is there anything I can do about this, please?
Thank you.

I will need to provide TalkTalk with evidence as to what is going wrong.
Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.
Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.
In other words, I try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to you to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.
I only send this out to people who request it.
