Hi, can you turn off the wifi optimisation on our router please? It keeps kicking our phones and tv off the wifi.

Just to let you know, I've given it a couple of weeks use since changing the wifi channels to test.

It does seem much better now that I've shifted it up beyond interfering signals and thankfully all our gear seems happy.

Hello,

 

Can the WIFI Optimisation please be turned off on my router. It keeps defaulting to channel 1 which causes a known issue with BG Hive sensors.

My 5464 has optimised overnight & I am now back on channel 36, which is fine for me. So I wouldn't bother trying 149 yourself. I will ask @Debbie-TalkTalk if she has heard back following the report I submitted.

I have just had my Sagemcom 5464 router replaced & it has started out on the 5GHz channel 149 and has so far survived today's WiFi Optimisation unchanged.

 

You could try this channel, Andy, but beware: not all 5GHz compatible devices can work on such a high channel number and if that is the case, they will be forced to use the 2.4GHz band.

 

I have a 5GHz WiFi adapter that will not work this high & I normally knock it down in the router UI to 36 - 48. I will put up with that device only working on the 2.4GHz band until after the weekend, to prove a point if the router & F266 will remain on channel 149. Now if WiFi Optimisation does what it should, when I turn that device on (I haven't yet since replacing the router) it will recognise what the WiFi adapter is. My guess is that on the next optimisation, it might move me to a lower channel so that it can work on the 5GHz band again.

The package makes a difference as to what router is normally supplied with it. Fibre 65 uses the Sagemcom & as an example, Full Fibre 150 uses the Amazon eero 6 router. FF500 & 900 use the eero Pro 6. No eero currently supports manual channel configuration at all, but it is being considered. They use their own algorithms to always use the best channel and they do seem to prefer channel 155. This is down to new channel naming conventions introduced with WiFi 5, but in essence, this is 149 to 165. With both the Sagemcoms & eeros it is all about router location, after a bit of work myself I think I prefer the eeros. However, you might find eeros better or worse in your situation.

 

Where WiFi Optimisation is concerned I might be able to put a case to TalkTalk on your behalf, but I cannot promise anything. I could probably do that Monday if you would like me to. The person I need to talk to will probably not be in until Monday.
