I have tried to get help on the 'chat' service, but to no avail. They could not comprehend the difference between internet speed and WiFi (which we have no issues with). They insisted on sending a WiFi booster, which they assured me would make a difference, of course it didn't. Even using the ethernet cable direct to my laptop, the upload speed was the exact sam

Ok thanks I'll give it some thought, wish someone had told me this when I first questioned it!

Hi

No issues, on any ADSL service, the maximum upload is 1mb and always has been. So your average of 0.8 or 0.9 is correct for the line.   ADSL is an older product now, and if higher speeds are needed I would suggest looking at a fibre service.

Thanks for the info Karl, is there any way of improving this, or is it an issue with where we live?

Hi

As your on an ADSL service, the maximum upload possible is 1mb, your estimate is around 0.8mb.

So those speed tests results you have given look correct.

Thanks Karl, so I've done as requested Google speed test - download 12.7 upload 0.73

Sam Knows - download 13.1 upload 0.96

Broadband speed checker - download 12.96 upload 0.97

Could you please tell me what our upload speed guarantee is?

Hi

I've reset the dataport and optimised the profile for your line, this should improve the sync speed.

Can you retest wired (not wireless) and run a speed test.  Also try a speed test at Sam Knows Speedtest  for comparison.

Speedtests results can vary between testers, so never put your faith in a single speed test site, but use a couple to get an average.

Hi Combatfred71

Your line is showing in sync at 14.3mb.

Was your speed test wired or wireless?

Hi Michelle, I've just completed the tests as instructed. These were all 12mbs download, it does not tell us of upload speed. The router details are:

Device version : FAST 5264-3.T8

Hello,

Ok thanks for confirming. Could you run a few wired speed tests now please using the TalkTalk Speed Tester so we can see your recent results. Can I also just confirm, which router are you using the moment please? (make and model)

Thanks

Michelle

Good morning,

Thank you. I've run a test on the line now which is clear and I can see that the upstream sync speed appears to be consistent at 1mb. Can I just confirm, have you recently tried powering down the router for a full 30 minutes as this will reset the current session and can often increase the throughput speeds?

Thanks

Michelle
