I've noticed that my internet connection is dropping more frequently than usual. It seems to have coincided with neighbours getting full fibre but may be a coincidence (or a sinister push towards selling it to me). Can someone please check?
Thanks
Jamie

You can still unclip the faceplate and then try connecting at the test socket with a plugin microfilter, just something else to check.

I have one of these, which is just a straight-through to the test socket isn't it?

Have you tried connecting at the test socket? Subject to that, please wait for a further response from the support team. Chris and Debbie no longer work here.

Please can you help @Debbie-TalkTalk @Chris-TalkTalk ?

I went through the steps to check my line / raise a fault yesterday. Ref number is REP-15603476.
All I see is
"We’re looking into it and should have an update in the next 5 minutes.
Come back to this timeline to see all future updates on your case."

I don't use/have a landline. I only have the VDSL from the master socket connected to my router. I don't have any other sockets or internal wiring. I rebooted my router, removed and reattached the cables. I'm currently syncing at 8Mbps with attainable around 58Mbps.
I should also mention that no changes have been made internally and this has been working fine for weeks at 40Mbps+

Hey there @jamieburchell, allow me to check on this matter for you as I will need to confirm minor things on your end.
Could you tell me, Do you find that your internet cuts out whenever you make or receive phone calls from your landline?

Not sure if staff are on here before Tuesday, @jamieburchell.
Phone support should be available from 9am on 03451 720088. Similarly Chat should be working on Monday.

Please can someone check my line, I'm suddenly only able to sync at 2Mbps!
Thanks

Hi Jamie @jamieburchell
Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe the nicer weather has stopped the trees from swaying around an interfering with the lines, or the fault was fixed, or there was a Divine Intervention.
🙂
If anything changes then please just let us know here 🙂

Nope, no internal wiring. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe the nicer weather has stopped the trees from swaying around and interfering with the lines, or the fault was fixed, or there was a Divine Intervention.
I'll come back to you if there's any further issue though.
Cheers

Oh great, I'm so glad to hear this 🙂
I'm not sure why they become faulty or which part of the faceplate causes the issue. If you had any internal wiring wired to the faceplate then that can often be the cause but you didn't have any internal wiring?

Yes, thank you for following up. I have the new single port face on the socket now too and all is still well. Don't think I've had a sync speed this high before either.
I'm confused why the filtered faceplate might have been the cause though, if the only part that's filtered is the phone socket and the DSL part is straight through.

Yes that should be fine 🙂

Do you know if I can get a faceplate that is just straight through to the test socket so that it looks a bit neater? It looks very inviting for the kids to play with at the moment. I found this https://www.amazon.co.uk/OpenReach-Telephone-Master-Machine-included/dp/B07HVDCJKS/ for example

It's no problem 🙂
I'm the same, I just connect straight to my test socket, I didn't use the faceplate.
on 17-03-2025 12:24 PM
Oh, OK. I thought that was one of the things we weren't allowed to touch on pain of death. Seeing as I don't use the phone, I won't bother with the faceplate. The router came with a BT plug to RJ45 cable, which works straight from the test socket.
Thanks again for your help

I can send a TT engineer, however this would be a chargeable visit as the faceplate is classed as your own equipment.
Openreach only maintain the line up to the test socket, not the faceplate. It would be cheaper to purchase one online yourself.
Thanks

Are you able to send me a new one?
