With Coronavirus disrupting our normal routines, including seeing friends and family, we understand how important it is to maintain your social connections during this stressful time. We want to reassure you that we're doing everything we can to support your increased broadband usage so you can continue to keep in touch digitally with loved ones. We've also got some ideas below for staying connected in this unprecedented time of social distancing.

How to FaceTime someone

Here's how to use FaceTime to make video calls from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:

  1. Open the FaceTime app and sign in with your Apple ID
  2. In the FaceTime app, tap the plus button
  3. Type in the person's phone numberemail address or name if they're already saved in your Contacts.
  4. Tap their name, number or email address, then tap Video to start a FaceTime session

Don't forget about group FaceTime calls

Some older apple devices may not support this new feature. For more information and supported devices check out group FaceTime

Other ways to stay connected

There are plenty of other ways to socialise and stay in touch with friends and loved ones.

Calling your Skype contacts using Skype is always free. Once you've downloaded and installed Skype, follow the below steps to make a call:

  1. Open Skype
  2. Find the person you want to call from your Contacts
  3. Select the contact you want to call, then select the audio or video call button. If you want to make a group call, simply add another participant
  4. At the end of a call, select the end call button to hang up

Tip: You can also quickly turn any chat into a call - just select the audio call button from your chat.

If you've not already, you'll need to download and install WhatsApp on your device or PC. To make a video call:

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Go to the Contacts tab
  3. Select the contact you want to have a WhatsApp video call with
  4. Select the phone icon towards the top of the screen
  5. From the popup choose Video call
